The Heritage of the Architect Anna Lülja Praun

2008

Carola Dertnig’s work gives insight into the apartment of the Austrian architect Anna Lülja Praun, who was a successful, yet unknown, interior architect in the first half of the century. Praun was a self-appointed aunt and dear confidant to the artist. Her life as an architect took place at a time when women had barely any recognition in the field. This life, however, shaped the life of the artist Dertnig as she describes herself in the accompanying text. The video shows the emptying of the apartment after Praun's death. We get an insight into the collections, filled with stories of the architect, and experience memories of the protagonist as told by the artist.
